Every tool purchased from The Tool Guys Ltd includes a 12-month warranty, whether it is sold as new, surplus or refurbished.
The warranty begins on the date the tool is delivered or collected and applies to purchases delivered within the United Kingdom.
What is covered
This warranty covers faults arising during normal use that result from defective materials, components or workmanship.
If a covered fault is confirmed, we will arrange an appropriate repair or replacement. Where repair or replacement is unavailable, impractical or unsuccessful, we may provide a full or partial refund as appropriate.
Nothing in this warranty limits the remedies available to consumers under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods.
What is not covered
The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear consistent with the tool’s age, condition and previous use
- Damage caused by accident, misuse, neglect or improper storage
- Damage caused by unsuitable batteries, chargers, accessories or power supplies
- Damage resulting from use contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions
- Unauthorised repairs, alterations or dismantling
- Cosmetic marks or signs of use that were disclosed before purchase and do not affect operation
- Specific faults or missing parts clearly disclosed before purchase
- The normal depletion or wearing out of consumable parts through ordinary use
These exclusions do not apply where a component was defective when supplied or has failed prematurely because the goods did not meet the standards required by law.
New, surplus and refurbished tools
Refurbished tools may show signs of previous use. Any significant cosmetic damage, known faults or missing parts will be described before purchase.
A tool’s age, price, description and stated condition may be considered when assessing reasonable quality and durability. However, refurbished tools receive the same 12-month warranty unless a specific item is expressly sold for parts or repair and clearly described as such before purchase.
Making a warranty claim
To make a claim, contact us through our Contact Us page and provide:
- Your name and order number, where available
- Reasonable proof that the tool was purchased from us
- The tool’s make and model
- A description of the fault
- Photographs or a short video where reasonably possible
Please contact us before returning the tool so that we can provide the correct return instructions.
We will cover reasonable return costs where goods are returned because of a confirmed covered fault or where required by your statutory rights. Customers will not be charged for a repair or replacement provided under this warranty.
Your consumer rights
For consumer purchases, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. These standards apply to both new and refurbished goods, although factors such as age, price, description and disclosed condition may be relevant.
Consumers may have:
- A short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods within 30 days
- A right to request a repair or replacement
- A right to a price reduction or final rejection where the applicable legal conditions are met
If a fault becomes apparent within six months, it is generally presumed to have been present when the goods were supplied unless we can demonstrate otherwise or that presumption would be inconsistent with the circumstances. After six months, the consumer may need to show that the problem resulted from an underlying fault present when the goods were supplied.
This 12-month warranty is provided in addition to these rights. It does not replace, restrict or affect them.
Business purchases
Our 12-month warranty also applies where a tool is purchased wholly or mainly for business purposes, subject to the terms on this page.
Consumer protections, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the 14-day distance-selling cancellation right, do not generally apply to business purchases. Business customers may have separate contractual rights under the applicable terms of sale.
Online cancellations
Consumers who purchase online normally have 14 days from the day after receiving their order to tell us that they wish to cancel, without providing a reason. They then have a further 14 days to return the goods.
The customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning an unwanted item unless we agree otherwise. This does not apply to reasonable return costs arising from faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods, which remain our responsibility where required by law.
Further information is available in our Returns and Cancellations Policy.
